Accessibility

What has been done

• Every text and background pair in the design system is checked against a 4.5 to 1 contrast ratio for body text and 3 to 1 for large text and interface boundaries, by a script that runs against the tokens themselves.
• A skip link is the first thing in the tab order on every page.
• Every form control has a real label, errors are announced, and focus moves to the first field that needs attention.
• Focus is always visible. The focus outline is never removed.
• Headings run in order and every section is labelled.
• Content is never hidden behind an animation. If JavaScript does not run, every word is still on the page.
• The decorative three dimensional scene is marked as presentation, carries no information, and does not load at all when reduced motion is requested.
• Every animation respects prefers-reduced-motion.
• The message widget traps focus while open, closes on Escape, returns focus to the button that opened it, and announces new messages politely.
• Wide tables scroll inside their own container so the page never scrolls sideways.
• Text reflows without loss at 320 pixels wide and at 200 percent zoom.

Known limits

• The three dimensional scene on the home page is decorative. Its content is described in text elsewhere on the page, but it is not itself navigable.
• PDF documents we send during an engagement may not always be tagged for screen readers. Ask and we will provide the content in another format.
• This site has not yet had a third party accessibility audit. That is planned.
